A young Green Lynx spider

A little green grasshopper

A little mantid trying to pretend he's invisible.

The Bagradas are back. I didn't see any last year. Well, not here, anyway. I think I saw some in the desert last year.

Blue-green sharpshooter

Eucalyptus leaf beetles mating. Their shells were so pretty. They looked like glazed ceramic.

Caught this one laying eggs. That was pretty cool.
I wish I could go somewhere new and find some bugs I haven't seen before, but I don't know when that's going to happen. So until then, it will probably be "chicken again" for the foreseeable future.
But I like your chicken! Great photos and cool bugs! Especially the one laying eggs! Awesome!
ReplyDeletewow...amazing pictures cindy!! especially the eucalyptus beetles caught in the act!!
ReplyDeletei never heard of the straight=shooters?!! they're kind of cool looking...stripes and all!!
Sharpshooters are in the leaf-hopper family. Most are pretty tiny, but there are many varieties and some are very colorful. I bet you have some out there.
DeleteMake a trip into AZ, but wait for the monsoon or hit some inland dunes in winter? I've been serious about Se AZ bug species since about Aug. 2007, but I am still finding surprising new stuff, also new southern immigrants now.
ReplyDeleteMargarethe, my husband has vacation time coming, but has been too busy at work to schedule anything, so where and when we will go are nothing but a big question mark. Your blog, and the amazing variety of bugs and other wildlife you share, definitely make me want to go there, but for now I am living vicariously through your photos!
DeleteBy the way, love your Eucalyptus LB photos. I've only found a single specimen way out in Saguaro National Park. No idea why he was out there, but my only Eucalyptus Cerambycid was also miles away from any trees. Makes you wonder...
ReplyDeleteWow! Love that you got a picture of one laying eggs...that is so cool!
ReplyDeleteEvery time you make wanderfull pictures. Good work
ReplyDeleteThese may be chicken to you, but more like a ribeye steak to me!!! Great photos...love the blue green sharpshooters...they even have such a cool name!!!
