Walnut husk flies, take 2


Here's another walnut husk fly, hanging out on a growing walnut. Is it waiting for a mate? Looking for a good place to lay eggs? Beats me.


This one was on the underside of a walnut leaf. You can see the threatening spider-mimic pattern in the wings. (Compare that with a jumping spider, and hopefully you'll see what I mean.)

I'll keep trying to improve my walnut fly photos as long as they're in season. I also took some pictures of another kind of cute fly which I'll post soon.
